Wise Before 25

While knowing how to be a good guest is important, learning how to be a good host is essential. And it’s not as hard as you might think. Whether it’s the holidays or any day, it’s fairly easy to make your guests feel special. I tend to find that mostdreamstime_s_16853082 people are just glad to be invited. If you keep that in mind, you can minimize your stress and entertain with ease. Also, you don’t need to bust your budget. Here are some things I always keep on hand, which gives me the pleasure of inviting anyone over at any time:

Salami, cheese, crackers, frozen hot appetizers (cocktail hot dogs, artichoke dip, taquitos, quiches, etc., you get the idea), apples, a bottle of red and white wine

One week to go!

with 2 comments

Well I can’t believe it’s almost here. And it’s becoming more real every day. Buying last minute items like a cell phone adapter at Radio Shack and purchasing Euros at the bank, it does seem like this trip to Italy is just around the corner…I know I’ll forget something – it won’t be underwear, that’s for sure! I was reading Rick Steve’s packing light list and he said to bring five pairs of underwear so you can wash them in the room at night. Yeah, right – like I’m going to wash my underwear. And how heavy is underwear anyway??? It’s been so long since I’ve been to Europe I’m trying to remember all my packing saavy tricks. Does anyone have any ideas on how to pack light but still stay chic? Any absolute European travel must-haves? I’ve got a week to get more stuff. So don’t be shy – let me know. Ciao for now.

Italy Awaits

with 3 comments

Our dream trip is now less than a month away. And we are shopping, shopping, shopping! Finding the right shoes is very challenging – as anyone who has been to Easy Spirit, Naturalizer or Aerosoles will atest. I already look like I’m a senior citizen based on my shoe choices but comfort is the way to go – or so we’re told. Bought some cute sun dresses and spent a wonderful weekend with Debra and Mike, my travelling companions. I think we will get along famously – especially since we all share a love of wine and food. And animals…Those of you who travel, what are your favorite shoes that still offer some style but also comfort?
